THE EDITOR, Sir:
The illustrious career of a public servant in the league of Mr. Edward Seaga is not without mistakes.
The JLP Manifesto of 2002, indicated that if Mr. Seaga had won the general election, he would have changed GC Foster into an academy and started a degree programme.
Mr. Seaga is not a person I criticise or find pleasure in condemning. But the article in IN FOCUS of The Sunday Gleaner of November 4 has faulty information, endorsing what was written in the manifesto of 2002. Mr. Seaga has indicated that GC Foster should start a degree programme. But I am living testimony that GC Foster has a degree programme because I am a degree graduate from the institution.
The poor infrastructure indicated by Mr. Seaga is fact and needs to be rectified. The college got a some assistance a few years ago spearheaded by Mr. Fitz Jackson, the then deputy Finance Minister.
This was for the restructuring of the pool and other things. Nothing more was heard from the relevant authorities about the disbursement of the funds.
GC Foster people need a life, so please help them.
I do hope Mr. Seaga could use his influence to create a brighter day for the people at GC Foster. Mr. Seaga is a stalwart, who, if given the go ahead, could establish a better future for our athletes.
I am, etc.,
