Garvey Maceo crush Brimmervale 5-0

Dwight Nelson, Star Writer

Newly crowned Ben Francis Cup champions Garvey Maceo started their campaign in the interzone round of the ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel daCosta Cup on a high note on Saturday, scoring a 5-0 win over Brimmervale in their Group Five fixture at Prison Oval in St. Catherine.

In a game which Garvey Maceo dominated, ace striker and skipper Ashton Bennett scored three times, taking his season's tally to 28 goals, while Upton Edwards and Andrew Vanzie got the other goals.

Garvey Maceo coach Jeffery Hewitt said while the team got the result it wanted, his boys were very tired because of the back-to-back games played in the Ben Francis Knockout competition. Meanwhile, losing coach Wayne Crooks told Star Sports his team lost focus after 35 minutes, however, they will be going back to the drawing board.
