Careless cops

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I think some policemen are too careless with their lives. Since the start of this year, I have heard of too many policeman dying tragically allegedly by the gun. I am not commenting deeply about these cases as my main concern is about the circumstances in which they died. I can recall that some of them were on the verge of dropping off female passengers.

I can recall at least three police officers that died in this manner I am referring to. One that used to be assigned to former Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller.

He was killed along Sundown Crescent off Molynes Road, St. Andrew, and quite recently one that the news had said dropped off a women passenger in the Jones Town area and was on his way out when his vehicle was shot up and then the Assistant Commissioner of Police who was killed in Irish Town, St Andrew.

This one the news had said, however, escorted the woman to her house when he was accosted by gunmen.

I am pleading to officers to please be cautious when they are dropping off passengers whether male or female. I am pleading to men that nuh mek nuh women tell yuh that they don't have any man just to convince you to go to their houses and women please speak the truth.

Women don't let the men go in area and knowing that you are friendly with someone and jeopardised the man's life.

Policemen, stop acting so stupid, wake up and smell di coffee, be careful on the roads and don't give your lives away. Make sure you take great care to ensure that you reach home to your family at nights.

I am, etc.,
