A snap of a meal

Krista Henry, Staff Reporter

Beenie Man presents the finished product of a job well done in the kitchen at his home in Mona.

When you are as skilled as STAR artiste of the month Beenie Man there are some basic necessities that one can get done for them.

For Beenie Man cooking is not his game as he employs a personal chef to prepare his meals.

When the STAR visited Beenie's home in Mona, last Tuesday, the doctor was busy overseeing his chef Richard cooking steam fish (snapper) and white rice. Beenie Man's favourite dish is steamed fish.

After assisting Richard to cut up the vegetables such as onions and carrots. Beenie left it to the expert as he closely watched as the chef heated up the pot and put the fish to steam. Under Beenie's watchful eye the fragrance of the fish soon filled the room with its sumptuous aroma.

Mi work too hard

"Mi haffi work too hard, so mi have a chef.In January when mi on vacation then I might cook. But Richie is the one that comes wid me on tour and cooks for me," Beenie said. A vegetarian, Beenie only eats fish, tofu, veggie chunks, cabbage, ackee and other such meals. He also never uses sugar in his drinks and doesn't eat desserts, chocolates or sweets. He exclaimed "no sah, yuh can't get chocolate out of your body and my body have too much tar from smoking."

As the fish came to a glorious end, Beenie removed the fish from the pot and placed it on a garnished dish inviting the team to sample. Without a doubt, Richard, with Beenie's watchful eye, can prepare a good well-flavoured steam fish. Beenie soon devoured a midday meal of steam fish while Richard told THE STAR what his artiste enjoys eating.

"I know what he eats which is mainly fish and vegetable. No red meat which is like steak or beef. He eats mostly brown rice, rice and peas as well," he said.
