Kali doing well in Bolivia

Kali McCarthy - LeVaughn Flynn

Fans may have noticed that Kali McCarthy was not around during St. George's Slayers unsuccessful attempt to defend its Kentucky Fried Chicken National Basketball League title last weekend.

That is because McCarthy is in Bolivia playing for UBI de Sucre in the Bolivian league. He has played three games thus far, resulting in a 2-1 record. Both victories came in overtime as UBI de Sucre tries to qualify for the Bolivian Championships and also the South American Club Championship.

This is McCarthy's first professional stint and he is averaging 19.3 points, 11 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game. He also played on the South Florida Summer Pro Am championship team in 2007. "I am happy that I have been given the opportunity to show that there are good basketballers in Jamaica too," McCarthy said.
