Security guards charged with simple larceny

By Rasbert Turner, STAR Writer

Two security guards were among three persons charged by the police with simple larceny, after they were, reportedly, caught loading a truck with board near Spanish Town, St. Catherine, on Wednesday.

Charged are Gary Dennis, 28, Dwight Hall, 39, both security officers employed to watched a lumber yard. They are charged along with 40-year-old truck driver Clifton Williams.

Police told The Star that about 1:30 on Wednesday morning, a police party was patrolling the Twickenham Park area of St Catherine when they spotted a truck parked in a open lot and Dennis, Hall and Williams were busily packing board on to the truck.

When they were accosted by the police, it is understood that they tried to pull a fast one on the lawmen by saying permission was given for the more than 80 pieces of board to be taken.

The police did not believe and further investigation revealed that the trio were, in fact, stealing the board following which they were formally charged and booked to appear in court to answer to the theft.
