Sub-Tropical Storm Olga, which is currently a threat to Jamaica, is expected to weaken slightly as it moves closer to the island, a release from the Meteorological Service of Jamaica said yesterday.
The system is moving west at about 20 kilometres per hour and this motion is expected to continue during the next 24 hours.
The release, issued after 5 p.m., said Olga will begin to affect our weather conditions by Wednesday morning as a weaker system passing north of the island. Periods of heavy rainfall and gusty winds, along with above normal sea levels along the North Coast, are likely on Wednesday afternoon. This is expected to decrease on Thursday.
Small craft operators are urged not to venture far from the mainland as sea conditions will gradually deteriorate during the next 12-24 hours.
