Three relatives narrowly escaped death after they were shot and injured in west Kingston, yesterday.
Police reports summarise that at approximately 1:20 p.m. armed men riding a motorcycle pounced upon a group of people standing just outside the Madden's Funeral Home in the volatile west Kingston community of Denham Town.
Gunmen escape
The pillion rider reportedly pulled a firearm and opened fire on the group injuring the three before making good his escape with the rider who waited until the attack was complete.
Luckily for the injured, an entrance to the Kingston Public Hospital was only a few meters away.
As such, they were rushed to the medical establishment where they were still being treated up to press time.
Ironically, they had gone to identify the body of another relative who had died only days ago, THE STAR heard.
When THE STAR arrived on the scene, residents converged and watched while police personnel processed the crime scene which had a number of spent shells.
In recalling the incident, one witness said, "di people dem stand up out pon di front Madden's deh so, and two man pon a R6 ride up. Di man pan di back pop off a gun an shot di three people dem den dem jus ride off."
Meanwhile, residents and the police are tight-lipped as to if the incident is related to an ongoing war in the nearby Hannah Town community.
The identification of the injured persons are being withheld pending further investigations.
The Denham Town police are investigating.
