The attorney repre-senting a man who is facing felonious wounding charges after he reportedly chopped another man, told the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court that his client had been repeatedly attacked with a slingshot and was merely defending himself.
The court heard that on the day in question, the complainant had just finished using his outside toilet when he was attacked and chopped by the accused, Andrew Nelson.
Nelson's lawyer however, told the court that Nelson was repeatedly provoked by the complainant who used a slingshot to hit him at least three times, causing injuries. He also said that on the day in question, the complainant had his slingshot drawn and Nelson was only defending himself.
Nelson was denied bail after the police officers handling the case told the court that they saw him as a flight risk. They also revealed that he was caught on the run and that another man who was also reportedly involved in the incident had fled.
He is to return to court on January 4.
