St Mary cops arrest five in one night

The police in various sections of St.Mary, were kept busy between Thursday night and Friday morning.

The Port Maria police have arrested one man in connection with the stabbing death of another. The incident occurred on Thursday in the Bailey's Vale community in the parish but the suspect, 20-year-old Michael Samuels, was taken into custody on Friday. Reports are that the now deceased man, 21-year-old Adrian Croff, of a similar address, was talking to a female companion when he was reportedly attacked by Samuels, who subsequently fled the scene. He was later held by the police however, and was taken into custody.

Meanwhile, the Oraccabessa police have taken four men into custody in connection with a gun find in the Rio Nuevo community. Reports from the Constabulary Communications Network are that about 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, the police were conducting an operation in the parish. Several residents and homes were searched and a 9 mm pistol with three rounds was discovered. The four men who were at the premises were arrested.

Investigations continue.
