A returning resident has expressed the view that although Christmas is expected to be one of the most peaceful times of the year he was certain he was not going to have a peaceful one.
He has many regrets that he returned to his homeland two years ago after living in England for 32 years.
" I really regret returning home especially when I notice how moral standards have broken down in the country and people now do as they please," the returning resident said.
" I don't think I will have any peace and quiet in my neighbourhood and I am fearing spending Christmas Day at home with my family.
"I live in the Washington Gardens area and my real problem is that I can hardly get any sleep at nights on weekends because of loud music blaring from the Riverton City area which is is in proximity to my community.
"On weekends you can hear music blaring from as early as 8 p.m. and does not end until 6 a.m. in the mornings.
I know that even if they are keeping dance in the area, the music should be turned down after midnight so that people can sleep in peace and comfort. This is one of the main reasons that I am contemplating selling my house and going back to England."
It is so sad that you cannot get to enjoy the peace and quiet of your home because of the loud music at nights.
Those who are playing the music must remember that the law prohibits the playing of loud music. You can call the police and report the disturbance whenever the music is being played and you can also write a letter to the Superintendent of Police outlining the problems that you are facing.
The Noise Abatement Act was passed in 1997 which prohibits the playing of loud music. There are stiff penalties for those who are found guilty of disobeying the law.
