Man drowns, another shot

The decomposing body of a 65-year-old man was found in a swamp near East Road, Seaview Gardens, Kingston 11, on Friday morning.

Dead is Lascelles 'Western' Scott of Phase One, Seaview Gardens.

Reports are that about 7:40 a.m., residents saw the body and called the police. An on-the-spot post-mortem determined that death was caused by drowning.

The Seaview Gardens police are investigating.

Meanwhile, a 35-year-old fish vendor was shot and killed by a gunman at the corner of Luke Lane and Heywood Street in downtown Kingston on Thursday evening. Dead is Miguel Hinds, also known as 'Bulla' and 'Andrew', of Pryce Street, Kingston.

Reports say about 7:15 p.m., Hinds was at the location when he was approached by two gunmen. One of the men opened fire, hitting him. The police were called and Hinds was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Kingston Central police are investigating.
