Portmore's Portsmouth Primary lifted the INSPORTS St. Catherine Primary Trophy for the first time in the school's history after blanking fellow Sunshine City school Bridgeport 3-0 in the final on Monday.
Shemar Dawkins and Shemar Grant and an own goal completed the scoring card for Portsmouth.
Portsmouth was the first to settle and went ahead through Dawkins, who received a nifty cross from playmaker Ramone Smith.
Dawkins controlled the ball and shot past a diving Bridgeport Primary's goalie, Shamar Campbell. Portsmouth continued to dominate and doubled their lead as the bustling Grant left two Bridgeport defenders in his wake and lobbed a stranded Campbell.
Bridgeport played a better second half, and could have made things interesting if stand-out players Malique Foster and Mario Salesman scored their chances, as their efforts were both saved by Portsmouth custodian Deangelo Austin. Portsmouth's resistance finally came to an end when a Bridgeport defender turned a ball into his own net handing Portsmouth a 3-0 victory.
At the end of the game, Andrea Hanson, INSPORTS Sports Officer for St. Catherine, handed over the winning trophy to a jubilant Portsmouth team.
