Onandi Lowe held with ganja

Footballer Onandi Lowe was charged yesterday by the Spanish Town police with possession of and dealing in marijuana after several wraps of the illegal drug were found in his possession.

Reports reaching THE STAR are that about 1:40 p.m. on Sunday, members of the Island Special Constabulary Force were on duty along the Spanish Town bypass when they stopped a vehicle being driven by the footballer and he told them that he was in a hurry to go to a funeral. However, the police insisted on a search. More than 30 small packages of marijuana were found and he was subsequently charged by the police along with Sophia Stewart.

Lowe, along with his co-accused, will appear in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on January 8, 2008 to answer to the charges.
