Entertainer Bascom X was among three persons taken into custody on gun related charges after a wanted man being sought by the police was found at his house in Hellshire, St. Catherine, on Saturday.
Bascom X, whose real name is Ryan Sudlow, was charged along with Mark Jones, 25, of Westmoreland and a female whose name has been withheld.
Reports from the police are that about 3:30 p.m., a police party went on an operation in St. Andrew Hill, Hellshire, in search of Jones who they claim was wanted for the murder of a woman in Southborough, Portmore. Their search reportedly led to Bascom X's house. During a search of the premises, a .45 calibre weapon with several live rounds was seized. All three were taken into custody and charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
Operations officer for St. Catherine South, Deputy Superintendent Clive Blair, said the police over a 12-day period have seized one gun per day. This number includes an AK-47 rifle taken from a 16-year-old boy in Newlands.
He told THE STAR that 11 of the weapons were seized in Portmore and one in the Old Harbour Bay area and that the police will continue to target persons and premises involved in the gun trade.
