BLUE MAGIC, DISTINCTLY IRISH and THE REAL STREAM are sound bankers for Pick-9 players hunting the Boxing Day carryover of $2.3m, starting at the fourth event.
Philip Feanny's BLUE MAGIC, classic-placed earlier this season in the Jamaica St. Leger, returns from a near five-month lay-up and gets another crack at Overnight Allowance horses after being awarded a race at the level on Derby day.
Tackling eight rivals at 1000 metres straight, BLUE MAGIC faces the likes of speedy PERFECT STEP, PRINCE TERRON, BULLET TRAIN and DANCING SAM.
Although not best drawn at post-position three, BLUE MAGIC has enough class and speed to outfinish rivals. No stranger to the distance, BLUE MAGIC won his first two starts at 1000 metres straight, clocking 58.4 and 58.2 respectively.
PRINCE TERRON nabbed PERFECT STEP at the distance last time out to post a fast 58.3 but will have to contend coming forward with BLUE MAGIC, who has superior mid-race pace.
BULLET TRAIN also loves the distance and narrowly lost over the course in two of his last three races. Both races were run in under 59.0 seconds, 58.2 and 58.1 respectively, races in which BULLET TRAIN carried more weight than the 51.0, he'll now carry due to champion jockey designate Omar Walker's two-kilo apprentice claim.
It's a decent line-up of sprinters, but the classy BLUE MAGIC has been training well, beating two-year-old stablemate SUPER DAVE in 1:00.4 on the round course two Mondays ago and should be finishing too strong for rivals in the final furlong.
Jackpots at $3.3m
Whereas the Pick-9 was rocked by 24-1 outsider TIMOTHY SCOTT in the ninth event, Saturday's Super-6 had six winning tickets, each returning $334,314 to their holders.
There was also a big Hi-Five payout of $1.2m in the fourth event, which had a carryover of $493,047.
With two Super-6 games on the 13-race Boxing Day card, punters should have a go at both, with each offering minimum $500,000 guaranteed payouts.
Start the first Super-6 with a bang by banking AITCHEMESBEAGLE, the two-year-old LITTLE BAY, SPORTACUS and BLUE MAGIC.
AITCHEMESBEAGLE returns to $420,000 claiming from where trainer Garrett Arscott snatched him early November, looking good at exercise, and should get the better of SIR KHAN and JET BLASTER at 1500 metres.
LITTLE BAY beat stablemate PAGEE PRINCESS at exercise in a recent three-furlong gallop, returns with lasix administered and should be better for her debut run late November when beaten into fourth by the speedy ALSAFRA and recent winner IT IS I.
SPORTACUS should also beat his two-year-old peers at 1200 metres in the third after doing well for third behind stablemate NATIONAL GALLERY and GOOD HOPE at 1100 metres on debut.
Horse-of-the-Year leading candidate DISTINCTLY IRISH and champion two-year-old THE REAL STREAM are five-star bankers for Super-6, Pick-9 and Track Price Plus Pick-6 players in races seven and 12 respectively.
