Gunmen went on a rampage between Saturday night and early Sunday morning, forcing the police to keep a watchful eye on sections of the Homestead community in St. Catherine.
Police yesterday detained 20 men in the aftermath of a shooting spree in the community which reportedly left one teenager dead and two other persons, including the alleged area leader, nursing gunshot wounds.
Dead is 18-year-old Ricardo Alexander, while the police say that the alleged area don, who is 25, is said to be at hospital in serious condition.
Police reports say that armed thugs, posing as lawmen, kicked in the door of the reputed area don and opened fire hitting him.
It is further reported that the thugs then moved to Mr. Alexander's home where they also opened fire at him.
He was injured and rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Yet again, approximately four hours later the gunmen then struck in another section of the community and injured another man.
As a result, the police reportedly mounted an operation in the area where the men were apprehended.
THE STAR was told that 15 of those picked up were processed and released, while the others were being held for further questioning.
