Cops nab wanted man

Dwayne Mcleod, Staff Reporter

The St. Catherine South police say they have captured a man whom they say was on their most wanted list.

The police say 25-year-old David Orette of a Waterford address in Portmore, was detained on Saturday following an operation along the Mandela Highway.

spot check

Police reports say that a team was conducting a spot check along the Mandela Highway. During the operation, a taxi was signalled to stop and while checking the vehicle and it's occupants, one of the officers reportedly recognised Orette and notified the rest of the team.

He was then held and subsequently arrested and charged.

THE STAR learned that Orrette has been on the police most wanted list in South St. Catherine since early last year in connection with a number of gun-related crimes including robbery and shooting with intent and murder.
