Thief drowns

Two of three men who attempted to rob a storehouse are in police custody counting their blessings after the third man, their partner in crime drowned while trying to make an escape.

The dead man has been identified as 24-year-old Marlon Coombs also called 'Chest', of a Terminal Road, Old Harbour Bay, St. Catherine address.

Police reports are that shortly after 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, Coombs and two other men broke into a storehouse. Before they could remove any of the stored good however, they were spotted by security personnel.

Jumped into the sea

While trying to escape, the men got cornered by the security personnel and Coombs jumped into the sea while his friends decided to play it safe and comply with the security guard who later handed them over to the Old Harbour police.

They are to be formally charged with attempted robbery.

Meanwhile, THE STAR learnt that at about 12:30 p.m on Monday, Coombs' body was seen floating a few metres away from where he had made his dive into the sea.

The police were alerted and his body subsequently removed.
