Two days' hard labour for ganja smoking

A St Catherine residents was given two days' hard labour after he was caught at the Spanish Town Courthouse smoking ganja.

Glenjay Williams of Gravel Heights in Spanish Town was caught in his cell at the holding area where he was awaiting sentencing for carnal abuse.

Constable Gregory Harris outlined to the court that about 10:30 a.m. on Monday January 21, he was checking the cells when he saw the 23-year-old man smoking a ganja spliff. He was subsequently charged by the lawman.

When he appeared in court he pleaded guilty and was sentence by the court.

He was given a two-year suspended sentence on the charge of carnal abuse.
