The Portmore Chamber of Commerce and Industry plans to open a business office in collaboration with the Jamaica Business Development Centre at the Portmore Pines Plaza, states President Dr Dane Levy.
According to Levy, the aim of the business office is to work and structure the business community in the municipality for better ethical practices and other aspects such as customer care so as to make the businesses reap their true potential.
"We feel that if the customer is place in a position where he or she is seen as the most important, then businesses will take off, and that is all that is needed in Portmore for it to reap good rewards," he says.
Levy was speaking recently after the chambers successfully hosted its Comedy and Cabaret concert at the Portmore Pines Plaza. He tells THE PORTMORE STAR that the comedy aspect has formed a cultural exercise to showcase the immense talents that exist in Portmore.
"Well, we expose the local talents in Ity and Fancy Cat, Pretty Boy Floyd and the international flavour of Blacka Ellis and other persons such as Dean Fraser, Dwight Richards and a host of other participants. This will cause persons from all over to enjoy the hospitality," reveals Levy.
He adds that the chamber, on an annual basis, will be continuing its effort to put on other functions to aid in several school projects such as acquiring computers and equipment. He says the security forces will also benefit from the returns of the concert as well as environmental issues in the municipality that needs to be dealt with.
Several persons praised the chambers for their insight in showcasing talents through comedy to the people of Portmore, and its environs.
