
Stewart, Allwood big winners at PMCL awards
Wicketkeeper/Batsman Junior Stewart champion of Ken's Wildflower and Wash-ington CC's U-15 player André Allwood won four awards each at the annual Portmore Metro-politan Cricket League (PMCL) awards presentation at the Ken's wildflower Restaurant and Lounge, Port Henderson Road, recently.
Stewart's four individual awards include best batting average (89.5), most runs (179), most runs in a match (116 not out), and best all-rounder, while Allwood snatched awards for best batting average, best all-rounder, most runs in a match (95), and most runs in the league (270).
Jamaica U-15 invitee, Ramone Senior, collected two awards, one of which was MVP for the Milo U-15 final, and best wicketkeeper in the PMCL. Mickhael Francis of Waterford won the award for most wickets (15).
Charles Simpson, president of the Portmore Metropolitan Cricket League thanked the sponsors of the two leagues.
Basking in the publicity they received during this season, all sponsors reassured the PMCL executive that they will be back next year. MegaMart's director of operations, Jeffrey Gordon, said that his company, an associate sponsor of the PMCL is in this competition for the long haul, "not just with talk but with dollars".
Suzanne Wilson Wong, Nestle Jamaica Limited's (Milo), category chanel sales and development Manager, assured the gathering that her company, who sponsored the Milo U-15 League, is committed to youth cricket. Petcom's sales and marketing manager said his organisation, who is sponsor of the Senior League, is in "support of any venture that promotes the value of life."
