FIX IT - Thanks NWC

AS PART of our mission to be the People Paper, THE WEEK-END STAR has been high-lighting problem areas across the island. Our reporter, Carolyn Johnson, along with photo-grapher Norman Grindley, will focus on a particular area until the problem is fixed. Now we will have a rough idea of how long the relevant authorities take to deal with some of the problems affecting our country.

Well, it seems we are on a roll. A month ago we discussed the state of the roads in the Old Capital, Spanish Town where the National Water Commission is carrying out some development work. As a part of their $85 million Kingston Metropolitan Area (KMA) water project to improve and increase water supply in the St. Catherine and Corporate Area, the agency was damaging almost every road in the town.

Now it seems the work is completed, and we must thank them for repairing the roads as was promised. It took some time, and you have to ride the numerous patches, but the road is at least a tad bit smoother than when they were digging. There is still however, no water every time the electricity goes. Can you work on that?

Over to the Corporate Area, we have heard complaints about the numerous traffic lights on Knutsford Boulevard, New Kingston that have yet to be turned on. About two weeks ago a representative from the National Works Agency told us the lights would be on soon. We are yet to hear what is causing the delay.
