Arson on Waterloo Rd?

The Grants Pen police are now investigating a fire which destroyed a section of a two storey building on Upper Waterloo Road on Ash Wednesday.

The fire which is believed to be the work of arsonists destroyed the second floor of the building. No one was injured.

Reports from CCN's metro officer are that between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m., three masked gunmen kicked open a door at the rear of the premises. They demanded the keys for the establishment that housed television sets and gaming machines from a watchman. When their demand was not met, the men bound and gagged him, and left the premises taking a CPU with them. The watchman managed to free himself and raised an alarm after which fire was seen coming from a section of the building.

The police and fire brigade were summoned. Three units from the York Park, Rollington Town and Half-Way Tree fire departments extinguished the blaze. Estimate of loss is $60m. It is not known if the building was insured.
