St Catherine High School won their second in as many matches to advance to the second round of TVJ's Schools' Challenge Quiz.
St Catherine defeated Holm-wood Technical High School by a final score of 32 -16 in yesterday's match. This score comes after an impressive preliminary round win in which they amassed a whopping 75 points.
Both teams started the match in a rather lukewarm manner as neither really seemed to gather any momentum.
At the end of section one, the score was 10-6 in favour of St Catherine High.
Section two was no different for Holmwood Technical and they only managed to add six points to the six they had gained in section one.
St Catherine on the other hand amassed 12 points in the round bringing their tally to 22. In their first minute of questions, they correctly answered the first six questions and it seemed that they were now gaining some momentum. They would, however, answer the following four questions incorrectly.
The final section, like the previous two, belonged to St Catherine High. Unlike the Holmwood team who only buzzed in on two questions which they answered correctly, St Catherine buzzed in on 10 questions, eight of which they answered correctly, thus gaining 12 points.
At the end of the match the winning St Catherine High team explained that they had mock exams to prepare for and as such the intensity of their studies for the match had to be decreased.
