Bridgeport High shows its artistic side

Anthony Minott photos - Crystalee Sterling speaks about this teddy bear arrangement with her classmate Ashajai Blackwood during an art and craft exhibition at Bridgeport High School recently. Pieces on display were either submitted for SBA purposes or created for the exhibition.

The talent pool of Bridge-port High School soared to a new height after an art and craft exhibition on the school's ground from Monday, January 20 to Friday, January 25.

Many of the items on display included school-based asses-sment (SBA) pieces, classwork and projects.

There were many pieces that tickled the artistic mind; however, grade 11 student Matthew Coley is clearly an artist who's going places. His sketch of a night scenery titled 'Night Life' was both imaginative and creative.

Others who had impressive pieces include Matthew Coley and Shane James in the realistic art; Edmund Coleman, Walter Gillet, Crystalee Sterling and David Brown in the craftsmen category.

The school's visual arts teacher, Lurline Bryan-Davis, who teaches grades 10 and 11 students, was pleased with the exhibits. "This visual arts exhibition was very successful. Many, if not all, viewers were very surprised to see the outstanding and creative pieces that the children produced. Many of the students were even motivated to work harder while others seem to be interested the subject as a vocation," Bryan-Davis said.

Also giving valid contributions to the exhibition was Kerry-Ann Titus and Majorie Hinds, both teachers of grades seven and eight.>
