Defending league champions Rowe's Strikers saw their bid to qualify for the semi-finals of the Jamaica Skittles Federation Pattex Cup took a nose dive when they suffered their third straight loss to league leaders, Dragon, at their Chelsea Avenue home base on Sunday.
Despite clawing their way back into contention from a 3-0 deficit, Rowe's Strikers ran out of steam and were outclassed 7-4 by a
better-prepared Dragon team.
stumbled badly
Rowe's Strikers only have themselves to blame as after leading 4-3, stumbled badly after key player, Karyl 'Chassie' Walker toppled pins after he attempted to play a fancy draw shot. This opened the way for his opponent, Cosmo 'Killer' Gardner who made good use of Walker's blunder to bring his team back into the match.
That game levelled the scores for Dragon and they proceeded to clean up the remainder of the games and the match.
With the league winding down, Rowe's Strikers and Eastern All Stars are now battling for the final spot as Dragon, Meadowvale Strikers and Cherry's Strikers have all but sealed their semi-final berths. Meadowvale gained a walkover from Portmore neighbours The Dip last Sunday to remain in second spot.
decider
The spot will be decided when Eastern All-Stars take on Rowe's Strikers in a home match at Windward Road tomorrow. The winner will join Dragon, Meadowvale and Cherry's Strikers in the semi-finals on Sunday, February 17.
In the other match played yesterday, Mystix All Stars made full use of their home advantage to beat back Waltham Strikers 10-1.
