Teams expelled for no-show

Four teams were expelled from the Colin Fagan-sponsored Portmore Division Two knockout competition following their absence from the opening ceremony and uniform parade at the Portsmouth playing field on Sunday.

They are Braeton United, Racing United, Hellshire United and last year's beaten finalists, Braeton New Town.

Treasurer of the league, Paul Parkes, said: "The teams were told of the consequence for not attending the ceremony and we reminded them recently and they still failed to attend."

Parkes, a former first vice-president of the league, has the notion that the teams disrespected the sponsor who wanted to meet all the teams before the competition kicked off. "The teams are basically irresponsible we need to take strict measures in order for the smooth running of the competition," Parkes explained.

The teams are still eligible to participate in the league.
