It is no secret that as the rounds come and go, the questions get tougher.
The girls from the Wolmer's High School quiz team rationalise this belief despite their 26-19 victory over Montego Bay High.
"It was a very challenging match ... the questions were hard," said Patrina Pink, captain of the Wolmer's team, before noting that the victory was nevertheless earned through proper preparation.
The winning Wolmer's team did not stamp their authority on the match until the third section, in which they outbuzzed their opponents and pulled away to victory.
Steady momentum
At the end of section one, both teams had managed to answer more questions incorrectly than they did correctly.
Neither team could develop a steady momentum, as Montego Bay ended the section with six points, two points short of Wolmer's eight.
Section two was just as lukewarm in performance as the prior section.
Once again, neither team managed to develop a steady momentum, as they both could manage to correctly answer one question in their first minute.
At the end of the section, Wolmer's added 10 points to amass a total of 18 points. Montego Bay High added nine points, bringing their total to 19.
In section three, however, Wolmer's would show their prowess and outbuzzed their St James-based opponents by eight questions to two.
Of the eight questions, they correctly answered six, thus gaining eight points and ending the match with the winning tally of 26 points.
Montego Bay, on the other hand, answered correctly the two questions which they had buzzed for and added four points to end the game with 19 points.
