A man is to face the court after he was arrested on Wednesday morning for attempting to bribe a police officer.
Members of the Island Special Constabulary Force arrested the man who attempted to bribe one of their colleagues in downtown, Kingston.
Raphael Walker, 45 -years -old, of Seaview Gardens, Kingston 11, has been charged with bribery and resisting arrest.
Reports from the CCN's metro officer are that about 10:45 a.m., Walker committed a traffic breach at the intersection of West Queen and West streets. He was stopped by a policeman and while being prosecuted, he reportedly offered the lawman $800 to avoid the charges. He was subsequently charged with bribery.
While being arrested, Walker reportedly resisted and tried to escape. However, he was subdued and taken into custody by other police officers who were close by. He is scheduled to appear in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, February 26.
The Harman Barracks police are investigating.
