Maxfield hunt double

KNOCKOUT champions Maxfield Park will be hunting the double when they take on defending champions Holy Family in the final of the 2007-08 Institute of Sports (Insport)/ 'CB' Chicken/WATA-sponsored Kingston and St Andrew Primary Schools football competition at the Barbican playing field today at 2:00 p.m.

Both teams reached the final after beating Jones Town and St Aloysius 2-0 and 2-0 in their respective semi-finals on Tuesday at the same venue.

The game promises to be a very interesting one as Maxfield come into this final as the only unbeaten team this season. They also hold the psychological edge over Holy Family, a team they beat 1-0 in the knockout semi-finals.

Holy Family have won the league on many occasions while Maxfield having won the knockout title will be seeking their first ever league crown.

Percival Cordwell, coach of Holy Family, will be relying on key players Rushane Facey, Nicholas Hamilton, Huntley Dixon, Lincoln Fairweather and Junior Lywood to launch his attacks.

Meanwhile, Maxfield's coach Marlon Richardson said his team has a good chance of winning.

"I would never take a team especially like Holy Family lightly as they are such a good and wonderful team," he said.

Kevin Clarke who has scored 12 goals for Maxfield could be the trump card for the team but support should come from captain Carvel Crossman, Damone Douglas, Malik Douglas and Kymarli Whyte.

Teams: Holy Family: Winston Richards (goalkeeper), Andre McCatty, Julian Manning, Brad Newby, Lucheon Pickett, Wayne Rousseau, Rushane Facey, Lincoln Fairweather, Junior Lywood, Nicholas Hamilton and Huntley Dixon.

Maxfield Park: Jevaughn McLeod (goalkeeper), Richard Byfield, Davario Malcolm, Nigel Ricketts, Kevin McKain, Jermaine Allen, Kymarli Whyte, Malik Douglas, Kevin Clarke, Carvel Crossman and Damone.

Beaten semi-finalists St Aloysius and Jones Town will face each other in the third and fourth place play-off, starting at 1:00 p.m.

Extra times and penalties will be added if the games ended in a draw at full time and extra time.
