Morant Bay High fought valiantly and had it been against a weaker opponent would probably have won. But on the day, they had to admit they were beaten 48-22 by a ruthless Kingston College in the latest match of the TVJ Schools' Challenge Quiz competition yesterday.
KC was the better team on the day," Morant Bay High's captain, Sanjo Edwards said.
Kingston College was dominant as they went about securing victory over their St Thomas based opponents in the third round of the competition.
From beginning to end, KC indeed looked the better team as they amassed 13 points in section one compared to the seven gained by Morant Bay.
The ensuing section would see the "purple boys" continuing to dominate the match, amassing a 20-point lead over their opponents who ended the section with 18 points.
Morant Bay just could not seem to get going as they could only manage to correctly answer a few questions here and there.
In their first minute, they answered only one question correctly, the other responses would be met with "that's incorrect" from quiz master Devon Yetman.
KC's dominance stretched into the buzzer section as well because Morant Bay did very little to cut down the 20-point lead which KC had managed to build. They could only manage to answer four questions, three of which were answered correctly, thus ending the match with 22 points.
KC, on the other hand, seemingly chose to add more pressure on their opponents by buzzing in to seven questions, six of which they answered correctly, thus ending the match with 48 points.
Winning captain Kenneth Peart, along with his fellow quizmates, said all that they possess the will and potential to wind up being one of the final two teams left in the competition.
"We have the potential to go to the finals, plus we are willing to do the work," captain Peart said.
