Leaders Jamaica will seek revenge for their loss to Trinidad & Tobago in last week's Stanford Twenty20 final, when the two teams clash in the fourth round of the Carib Beer Series starting today.
Jamaica were humiliated by nine wickets in the final in Antigua, but will be hopeful of an improved showing in the longer version of the game at the Queen's Park Oval.
Jamaica's captain Chris Gayle said his side was focused on the four-day encounter, with the loss in the Stanford Twenty20 final now behind them.
"We have put that Stanford Twenty20 defeat behind our backs. We are in the lead and we going to play good basic cricket," Gayle said.
"We are looking for a good first day's play. As you know the opening day can determine the outcome of the game."
Jamaica lead the standings with 36 points, with wins in their first three matches. They beat the Leewards by five wickets, the Combined Campuses and Colleges by 10 wickets before hammering Guyana by eight wickets in the third round.
T&T, still basking in their glory of their Stanford Twenty20 victory, will be eyeing another victory in order to put their campaign back on course. They are joint fourth with Leewards on 16 points.
Captain Daren Ganga has put a heavy emphasis on the outcome of the game.
"We are not in a good position overall in the standings, not for cricket reasons but for the weather. It is very critical," Ganga said.
