Charlemont High continued their impressive run with a 37-25 over DeCarteret College in the latest match of the TVJ Schools' Challenge Quiz Competition.
The boys from Charlemont High survived a strong showing from Decarteret to emerge victors and advance to round three of the competition.
The winners, seemingly, came to prove their worth especially to a certain quiz analyst who said he would "go out on a limb" and predict DeCarteret as the winners.
"Di limb ago broke today," one student said to the analyst who was present at the match.
The match got off to a pretty slow start with Charlemont High ending the section on five points while DeCarteret could only gain two points.
two-point tally
Section two was a bit more competitive. Charlemont High would gain at six points in both their second and third minute of questions after gaining seven in the first minute and ending the section on 27 points.
DeCarteret would also gain seven points in their first minute of questions after gaining six in the first. However, in their final minute, they would only answer two questions correctly, bringing their end of section two point tally to 21 points.
At the end of the section, some of their supporters could not help but predict a loss.
"Dat kill we a while ago, a it that," one student was overheard saying.
In the ensuing section, they would be outbuzzed by a Charlemont team who noticeably looked hungrier for the win.
Charlemont outbuzzed their opponents 11- 4, and gained ten points in the section to end up with the winning score of 37 points to their opponents' score of 25 points.
As they left the studios, a handful of Charlemont students could not help but to take shots at the analyst who had predicted a loss for them.
"Next time yuh fi go pon a branch yu hear," one student said.
Winning captain, Mario Christie said his team came to do nothing but win.
"That's why we came here," he calmly said.
When asked of his team's chances to win the competition he replied, "It's as good as any other team, we have some experienced players and we work very hard."
Losing captain, Shawna Farquharson noted that their downfall lay with their performances in the first and third sections before adding that they would be looking to work on those aspects and return even stronger next year.
