Deejay Anthony B is heading on the road with tons of new material, including his debut single on the soca scene, Tripping Down Di Road.

Known for his conscious reggae lyrics and hardcore deejay style, many persons were surprised to hear something different on a soca beat from Anthony B. Yet Tripping Down Di Road, his collaboration with Trinidad soca star Machel Montano's band member, Former Nappy, is one of the hottest soca songs of the 2008 carnival season.

Invited to studio

Anthony B told the STAR how the song came about. "I went to do a show in Barbados and I met a girl at the show who knew Former Nappy and she invited me to come into the studio to hear di song and I liked it," he said.

According to Anthony B, the song went number one in Trinidad and Grenada and is getting a lot of airplay for the upcoming Barbados Crop Over in August, and the video for the song will make its debut on MTV Tempo.

The success of the song saw Anthony travelling to soca central, Trinidad, for carnival for the first time. "We went down to do a show down there and a few other carnival events. It was my first carnival. The whole experience was just a first for Anthony B and it was great. It's always good to experience other people's culture. We haffi spread di global link," he said.

Airplay

The song has also been getting a lot of airplay here in Jamaica. According to the artiste, this song is the first that has been played on local radio stations that he did not have to give them.

Despite the success of the song, Anthony B claims it is a 'feature song' and he is all about his reggae and dancehall vibe. Currently, the artiste is preparing for the release of his album, Life After Death, in the next two months.

So far, his songs Tease Har and Bad From Long Time have been receiving heavy rotation. "This album is di first in a long time that is a bomb album, yuh know. It provides a lot of hit songs," he said.

In the meantime, Anthony B says he's busy with shows such as Spring Break in Jamaica and tours across the world.
