FIX IT - Kew Road's got the blues

This section of Kew Road and Ballater Avenue in St Andrew urgently needs repairs. - Norman Grindley

AS PART of our mission to be the People Paper, THE WEEKEND STAR has been highlighting problem areas across the island. Our reporter, Carolyn Johnson, along with photographer Norman Grindley, will focus on a particular area until the problem is solved. Now we will have a rough idea of how long the relevant authorities take to deal with some of the problems affecting our country.

Again, at the top of our list is Kew Road, off Maxfield Avenue, St Andrew.

This, as we said last week, does not deserve to be called a road. It really is a shame that Kew Road, lined with businesses and a 'major side road' in the Corporate Area has deteriorated to such a state. This road is so damaged that little or none of the surface asphalt is left. Instead, drivers are in for a real 'hill an gully ride'.

The road is characteristic of dirt tracks one would find in some deep, deep, dark rural parish.

Based on your research, all blame should be cast at the office of the Kingston and St Andrew Corporation (KSAC), the entity with responsibility for that road.

"We still a wonda a wa National Works Agency (NWA) up to wid de bag a traffic light dem a stick up all ova d place, unnecessarily while death traps like intersection of Duke and Charles Street need to be fixed. Wa dem dey pon?
