Law catches up with alleged stabber

A security guard accused of stabbing another man confining him to a wheelchair, was remanded on Wednesday after his bail application was denied in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court.

Delano Wilson, originally from Kingston, but now located in Albion, St James, will remain at the Montego Freeport lock-up until April 9, when a preliminary enquiry will be held.

RM Winsome Henry said, based on the information revealed in court, the case against the accused man was quite compelling, and denied bail.

Wilson is charged with wounding with intent. A subpoena was ordered for the doctor who treated the complainant. The complainant and the investigating officer were bound over to attend court.

Stolen phone

The prosecution is alleging that on February 2, last year, the complainant and Wilson, who both worked at the Cool Oasis service station in Mount Salem, had an altercation. It is said that Wilson accused the complainant of stealing and selling his cellular phone.

During the argument, the accused man allegedly used a knife to stab the complainant, who fell to the ground.

Further allegations are that while the injured man was on the ground, Wilson stabbed him twice damaging his spine. Wilson allegedly fled the scene and the complainant allegedly spent more than a month in hospital.

Wilson was held on January 12, one year later, when police went to the Cornwall Regional Hospital in Montego Bay where he had gone to get treatment for a stab wound.
