Head coach of Holmwood Technical High School girls' athletics team, Maurice Wilson, has urged the Christiana-based school's administrators to use last Saturday's victory at the GraceKennedy Boys' and Girls' Championships as an opportunity to build on the institution's fortunes.
"I would want to hope that the school will utilise this opportunity to build on their good fortune and use the victory to assist other areas in terms of the school's development," Wilson said.
Holmwood finished with 352 points, a total which Wilson said was always possible.
"I am not a mathematician, but obviously I have luck with numbers," he said while hailing outside contributions from Yvonne Kong and Edwin Murray, principal and vice-principal at GC Foster College, respectively.
While lauding athletes such as Class One double winners Bobby-Gaye Wilkins and captain Salcia Slack. Wilson also expressed disappointment with a few individuals.
"Osheen Erskine (Class Three long jump and 80m hurdles), Sashawna Bennett in the Class Two hurdles, Yanique Ellington in the 400m, there were quite a few disappointments, but other persons really balanced out those disappointments," the Holmwood coach said.
