Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Registrar General's Department (RGD), Dr Patricia Holness, has said that the department's outreach initiative in the United Kingdom (UK) this week is part of its objective to assist Jamaicans everywhere.

"This is part of our continued thrust to fulfil our mandate to assist Jamaicans to access their important documents, wherever they may reside. If you can't come to us, we will come to you," Dr Holness said.

Members of the Registrar General's Department will be visiting Jamaicans living in the United Kingdom (UK), between March 26 and 31, to assist them to secure birth, death and marriage certificates.

The visit is part of the RGD's overseas outreach initiative, and members will be assisting Jamaicans in London, Manchester and Birmingham. Special emphasis will be placed on those persons needing record-updating services, such as the addition of father's particulars, the correction of errors, late entry of name and late registration. Customers will also be able to submit applications and make payments for birth, marriage and death certificates.

As part of the service it provides to all its customers, the RGD will also be providing information on application procedures for birth, death and marriage certificates, genealogical research, registry wedding service and deed polls.

Customers who wish to make use of the record-updating service are being encouraged to take along a picture identification card, such as a passport, driver's licence, national identification or immunisation card, school record and if possible, old copies of their birth certificates.
