Had it not been for a vehicle which reportedly hit one of two accused men, they probably would have made off with $60,000 which they allegedly stole from a woman only moments before.

Trevor Codwell and Mark Codwell appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday to answer to charges of robbery with aggravation.

The court heard that on March 20, both men robbed a woman who had just exited a bank on King Street, downtown Kingston.

It was reported that on the day in question, the accused men held up the defendant at knife point.

She reportedly dropped a bag containing the money. The men allegedly took up the money and ran off.

Manley, whose face was still in bandages, was reportedly hit by a vehicle as he tried to make an escape. Both men were subsequently caught by police officers who were alerted by the complainant.

Codwell's lawyer told the courts that she was informed that her client was simply trying to assist Manley, when he got hit by the vehicle and consequently was mistaken also for a robber.

The complainant, however, was adamant that she was robbed by the two men. She told the court that she noticed when Codwell walked into the bank and then followed her as she made her way out.

The accused men were remanded to return to court on May 12.
