Two teenage boys were caught 'red handed' after robbing a female, thanks to the swift response of police on Sunday.
Charged with robbery with aggravation are Elegor Burnett, 18, an unemployed resident of McDonald Lane (Kingston 13) and a 17-year-old youth, a student, also from a Kingston 13 address.
Reports say that about 9:50 p.m., the two were travelling on foot along Maxfield Avenue, when upon reaching near #135, they approached a woman who was also walking along the roadway. Armed with knives, the teens held and robbed the complainant of her handbag, containing her cellphone and $1,800 cash among other properties. They managed to successfully escape on foot in the area.
However, a passer-by who witnessed the robbery, called the police and a swift response from the Half-Way Tree CIB resulted in the capture of the teenagers along Chisholm Avenue. The complainant (who was travelling with the police) positively identified the two as her attackers, and her handbag was recovered from one of their persons.
"Criminals must stay away from the St. Andrew Central Division, because our teams are stepping up the pace, especially in the Half-Way Tree area," said Constable Gosford Daley, who was at the CIB handling another robbery incident.
