Street lights similiar to these out of service along the Mandela Higway and sections of Highway 2000. - File
AS PART of our mission to be the People Paper, THE WEEK-END STAR has been high-lighting problem areas across the island. Our reporter, Carolyn Johnson, along with photo-grapher Norman Grindley, will focus on a particular area until the problem is fixed. Now we will have a rough idea of how long the relevant authorities take to deal with some of the problems affecting our country.
Today, we move from the Corporate Area; we're driving along Mandela Highway. However, to see the issue we saw, you have to travel at nights.
On approaching the traffic light at Caymanas Crossing, you'll notice that the road suddenly gets dark as a few street lights are out cold.
Overhead, you'll notice that the toll road is dark also. Though something resembling a light post stands towards the end of the road. They are also as cold as night.
We're not sure how long these street lights have been out, but it would be perfect if they were repaired soon.
While we watch for these lights to flicker, we're also waiting for repairs to be completed on Kew Road, St Andrew. It sure would be super if more traffic lights in downtown Kingston would start working or be removed.
