Dwayne Mcleod, Staff Reporter

The St Catherine South Police have formally charged one of the licensed firearm holders who was allegedly involved in the early morning shoot-out at the British Link-up party which was held at La Roose in Portmore, St Catherine on March 24.

Charged with three counts of shooting with intent, assault and illegal possession of firearm is Michael Robinson, a music promoter of a St Andrew address.

The police reported that Robinson took part in an identification parade on Thursday and was subsequently taken into custody.

According to police reports, two patrons at the popular dance got into a dispute during which guns were drawn and shots fired. Forty-seven year-old Clifton "Chucotto" Reid, a member of the Arnett Gardens-based Black Roses crew was shot and killed, while six others were injured.

Other persons were injured during a stampede as patrons made a mad rush from the venue.
