Thanks to some missing eyewitnesses, an alleged member of the Clansman gang became a free man on Wednesday despite being accused of killing a woman.
Alleged gang memberm
Jermaine 'Speedy' Morrison, who is said to be a member of the notorious Spanish Town-based gang, appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court and was consequently set free because eye-witnesses reportedly refused to attend court in fear for their lives.
RM Glen Brown made the decision after the prosecutor told the courts that the Clansman boss warned the alleged witnesses not to testify against Morrison.
Court documents sum-marise that Morrison was charged in 2007 for the murder of Tashana Beckford, 21, of March Pen Road, Spanish Town, St Catherine.
A slap in the face
Reports are that on April 16 last year, Ms Beckford and Morrison's girlfriend had a dispute during which he allegedly intervened and hit Ms Beckford in the face. She retaliated and slapped him in the face.
Further reports are that Morrison pulled a gun and shot her several times, even as she lay on the ground.
