The body of an unidentified man believed to be in his late twenties was found in the Calvary Cemetery on Lyndhurst Road in the Kingston 5 area yesterday morning.
The body is of dark complexion, slim build and was dressed in white and black shirt, blue jeans pants and a pair of pink and black sneakers.
Reports are that about 9:15 a.m., a passer-by stumbled upon the body and called the police. Close inspection of the body revealed gunshot wounds. It also had multiple bruises and the hands were bound. The scene was processed and the body removed to the morgue.
The Denham Town police said residents reported hearing explosions about 11:00 p.m. last night.
Building razed in St Ann
Fire of unknown origin destroyed an 11 apartment building which housed a laundromat at Canaan Road in Bamboo, St Ann on Thursday morning. No one was injured in the blaze.
Reports are that about 12:05 a.m., residents saw fire coming from a section of the building and raised an alarm. The fire brigade was summoned and one unit from the Ocho Rios Fire Department extinguished the blaze.
Loss is estimated at $12m. The building was not insured.
Man held on gun charge
A 33-year-old tiler was arrested following the seizure of an illegal firearm in Steer Town, St Ann on Thursday morning.
Charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition is Errol Broady, otherwise called 'Glen' of Steer Town.
Reports are that about 10:00 a.m., a police operation was carried out in the Steer Town community. During the exercise, Broady was seen acting in a suspicious manner. He was accosted and searched and a .38 revolver and ten .38 cartridges were found in his possession.
He was subsequently arrested and charged and is booked to appear in the St. Ann's Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on Thursday, April 17.
