Swimmer Moodie qualifies for Olympics

Seventeen-year-old Natasha Moodie became Jamaica's first swimmer to qualify for the 2008 Olympics when she won the 50m freestyle event at the Toyota Grand Prix at the Ohio State University on Saturday in a time of 26.08 seconds, an Olympic qualifying cut.

Entering the finals with the fourth fastest time (26.70), Moodie, with a blistering start, claimed success to set not only a new Jamaica national senior record in the event but also broke her own record (26.61), set last June at the Central American and Caribbean Championships in El Salvador.
