VIRTUALLY out of the running for Premier League glory this season, Waterhouse and Village United, fifth and sixth respectively, in the league standings, continue their silverware salvage operation this afternoon in the quarter-finals of the all-island COK Champions Cup knockout.
Waterhouse are down to play August Town in an all-Premiership match-up, starting 6:00 at Drewsland, whereas Village United travel to play Clarendon champions Humble Lion at the York Town Community Centre at 3:00.
The quarter-finals continue tomorrow with a huge showdown between Tivoli Gardens and Harbour View, 6:00 p.m. at the Edward Seaga Stadium, preceded by Granville of St James hosting Premiership leaders Portmore United, 3:00 p.m. at the Sam Sharpe Teachers' College.
Village face a dangerous trip to Humble Lion as the Clarendon champions knocked off parish premiership team Sporting Central 3-1 in the first round and returned to beat Corporate Area side Duhaney Park 2-1 in the second round.
Village have improved immensely since their second-round placings had them contesting the opening round of the national knockout and should have more class than Humble Lion.
The men from Trelawny first got by Manchioneal before outgunning fellow Premier League side St Georges 4-2 at Lynch Park in Portland.
However, both Humble Lion victories were recorded at home and they can't be discounted at the York Town Community Centre with their confidence on a high.
Kevin Mighty scored twice against Sporting Central for Humble Lion and could again prove dangerous this afternoon as the Clarendon team aim to emulate Naggo Head of 1996-97, the last non-Premiership team to win the title.
Premier League showdown

In the evening's all-Premier League showdown, Waterhouse should prove a handful for August Town at Drewsland.
Sitting fifth in the league with hardly a whiff of a chance in the title race, Waterhouse are desperate to add any bit of silverware they can to their trophy case.
They swamped Albany of St Mary 3-0 at Clembhard's Park and should get the better of last-place August Town, who have been playing better of late, getting goals from Mitchily Waul.
Tomorrow, Premiership leaders Portmore, the defending all-island knockout champions, should put away Granville on the road.
The dominant all-island knockout side for the past three seasons, making three finals and winning two, must be eyeing a national double with their two-point lead atop the Premier League.
With the country's leading scorer, Roen Nelson, bang in form for the champions, it will be an uphill task for Granville in their backyards.
Granville beat Premiership team Seba then Bath of St Thomas 5-1 to advance but Portmore put away Premier league third-place Boys' Town 2-1 to stamp their class.
In the evening's big match-up, Premiership second-place Tivoli will be burning to repeat their 2-1 second round league win over Harbour View.
However, the Stars of the East, like Waterhouse, are all but out of the Premiership title race and will want to end their season with another trophy, adding to their Caribbean Club championship, President's Cup and Jackie Bell knockout titles.
