Following the escape of three prisoners from the Horizon Adult Remand Centre early yesterday morning, the Department of Correctional Services has suspended visits to the institution except in the case of consular representatives, attorneys-at-law and other authorised persons.
A press release from the correctional services said the move would remain in effect until further orders are issued.
Reports are that it was discovered yesterday during a routine check-up that the three inmates Michael 'Tipalee' Bailey, Wayne 'Waynee Bones' Dawson and Omar 'Jay' Campbell, were discovered missing.
Bailey was serving time for robbery with aggravation, illegal possession of firearm and assault; Dawson for murder (serving life
in prison) and Campbell for unlawful wounding, wounding with intent, robbery with aggravation and illegal possession of firearm.
Several attempts to contact Major Richard Reese, head of the Department of Correctional Services were unsuccessful. A board of enquiry has been set up to investigate the break-out.
