Luca Toni scored twice in the second half to cap Bayern Munich's 3-1 comeback win at Eintracht Frankfurt and move his team another step closer to the Bundesliga title yesterday.
Bayern trailed on a goal from Benjamin Kohler but Daniel van Buyten tied the score in the second half before Toni secured the win and brought his league-leading tally to 20 goals. The Italian World Cup winner has 33 in 40 games in his first season for Bayern.
With five games remaining, Bayern protected their 10-point lead and has 63. Werder Bremen was second and Schalke third with 51. The latter pair won on Tuesday.
"We are going to be the champions now," Bayern general manager Uli Hoeness said. "It doesn't matter in which round.
"When you are on a roll, you win such games too," he said of the match in which Frankfurt was at least even in the first hour.
Arminia Bielefeld edged Bayer Leverkusen 1-0, VfB Stuttgart dumped Nuremberg 3-0, Borussia Dortmund lost at home to Hannover 3-1, and Karlsruhe won at Duisburg 1-0.
