Thousands flocked the Palz Production's Family Fun Fest at Jam World Entertainment Centre recently.

Members of the Palz Production Committee placed the crowd over 2,000, but on the day, they were actually catering for about 10,000 patrons.

Bevene Alvaranga, a committee member of Palz Production, thought the event went particularly well. "I think the event went fairly well, rain fell at the venue, but people still came out," Alvaranga noted.

She pointed out that the aim of the event is to bond families. "This is a family-orientated event. We want to allow the parents to have quality time with their children," she said.

The numerous attractions included the Ferris wheel, tram train, rock climber, water slide, merry-go-round, trampoline, chariots and a helicopter. The food stalls, the entertainment package from MC Jenny Jenny and guest performer Ken Boothe brought variety to proceedings.

Patrick Rhoden, confined to a wheelchair, had one of the interesting rides of the day, the chariot, created and constructed by Rhoden. It was well received as the children flocked this area.

Created excitement

Romario Roberts created excitement for his father after he successfully reached the summit of the rock climber. Oneal Roberts was proud of his son's achievement. "He did well. It's only a few kids that made it to the top," he said. He also carried his son to get his face painted and added: "We need to make them enjoy themselves."

Paul Reid, a resident of Portsmouth, took his son to the venue. "I put him on all the rides. I just want him to be happy," he said.

Outside the venue, two families were enjoying themselves, playing ball games and flying kites. "I just come out here with the children to have some fun. It's a holiday and it's the best time for flying kites," he said.
